The History: In 1981, the Döbra Community erected a Cross, 9m high, on the mountain behind the Provincial House of the OMI Fathers. In order to make the ascent to the Cross more accessible, 315 steps were hewn into the mountain in 1984. Frater Wouterus van den Hout CMM designed the Stations of the Cross in African style in glass mosaic. The personnel of Angelus Printing, under the leadership of Brother Manfred Pietsch OMI, then did the practical work of building the stations.
It has become a tradition to make the Stations of the Cross up the Döbra mountain at 08h00am on Good Friday and on the Feast of the Exaltation of the Cross. This event is always attended by many people from the different parishes around Windhoek.
