Benedictine Sisters of Oshikuku at the Rundu Mission

The Benedictine Sisters of Oshikuku is a local Catholic Congregation which follows the Benedictine way of life. Our congregation was founded in 1932 at the request of a young girl, Cecilia Ijambo Tomanga, who was influenced by the example given by the Benedictine Sisters of Tutzing. At present there are 129 members. The formation house is at Mariabronn near Grootfontein and our headquarters is in Windhoek.

The congregation of the Benedictine Sisters of Oshikuku was founded to serve the people of Namibia or wherever they may be needed. We are open to all kinds of service with our Benedictine way of living. We are serving in schools, health care, disabled and abandoned and neglected people. We help to build up Christian communities and strengthen their faith. We commit ourselves to proclaim the Gospel among our people. We care for the sick and offer our service in all spheres of education of youth. Our motto is “Pray and work”.
